As partners with numerous artisan groups in Haiti, WorldofGood.com has been particularly saddened by the news coming in about the devastating earthquake and resulting damage. In an effort to help these producer groups and the country of Haiti in a time of need, we’ve compiled a few ways you can donate to organizations that are working to address the crisis:

Donate via Text Message

This is probably the easiest and quickest way to make a donation and the funds are added to your cell phone bill. Here are two reputable organizations I recommend:
1. Text “HAITI” to 90999 to donate $10 to Red Cross relief efforts
2. Text "YELE" to 501501 to Donate $5 to Wyclef Jean's Yele Haiti’s Earthquake Relief efforts

Donate Online

Donate online via PayPal and pick from over twenty different organizations, ranging from the American Red Cross to the United States Fund for UNICEF. Go to www.ebay.com/haitiearthquake and click on donate now.

It's unfortunate but these disasters also encourage various scamsters to crawl out of the woodwork so do your research before making a donation to a charity or organization you have not heard of. It's important to know where and how much of the money you are donating is going directly to the cause at hand.

Given the magnitude of the damage, it will take a while for the country to recover. When it does, consider supporting artisans and organizations from Haiti as creating sustainable employment will become even more imperitive in the near future.

UNICEF, the Red Cross and other noble organizations need to pay salaries. 100% of your donation will benefit Haitians when you donate to Partners With Haiti.org, a registered charity of the highest rating. Read all about this organization that has U.S. volunteers for their Board Members. They have great hearts for Haiti. I have been to Haiti (with Partners With Haiti mission trips) 5 times building or repairing schools and orphanages. I sponsor 3 sisters through PWH that educates and feeds the girls. I don't know yet if the girls survived the earthquake. Step Up 2 the Plate eBay store has been donating 85% to Partners With Haiti for years. I would like to find artisans from Haiti to supply employment for sales on World of Good. Suggestions?

Hi Janet, Thanks for your comments. We are working with our sellers that work in Haiti to see how the artisan groups there have been affected and how we can help. We can definitely share this with you as we learn more and see if there are groups you can work with. I'm also hoping that other sellers who work in Haiti can jump in on this discussion thread.

We're grateful to World of Good for their support of relief efforts for Haiti. Global Fayre carries a range of Haiti oil drum wall art; we are donating 20% of all from all sales of these beautiful pieces to aid organizations working in Haiti (we have asked our customers to select which group to donate the funds to) If you want more information, email haiti@globalfayre.com
