About
OVERVIEW
Founder's story
In 1996, at age 49, a series of events took me to Bali, Indonesia, my first real trip out of the US. When I arrived I had come home.
Over the next few years I made return trips, beginning to meet Balinese artisans and develop relationships. I began by selling Balinese sterling silver beads on eBay, which I still do.
In 2001, I retired from a 33 year career in Environmental Health with the Seattle-King County Health Department. I was tired of the politics and the media and all that went with that.
I spent two months in Bali after retirement revitalizing and beginning my serious work in importing.
I share containers with other importers, including a Fair Trade Federation member who pushed and prodded and coached me through the application process. I was accepted into membership in March 2007. In 2008 I added Co-op America to my memberships.
My artisans have become family to me and I hope that I can bring their wonderful crafts and arts to the people of the rest of the world.
