We often hear that we should support organizations with our money. Yet I've also found it important to communicate when expectations are on target, or when I feel there is room for improvement from a manufacturer or retailer. In recent media preparation, I am encouraging people to express their desire, interest and support of products and services that are ethically produced, eco-conscious, socially responsible, earth-friendly, etc.
I strongly believe that collectively our voice will be heard in most any environment. Letters, emails, postcards, phone calls, etc. have an effect in numbers to news stations or papers, retailers, and most any organization. Every one is a while, a common goal is shared by many, and mountains are suddenly moved.
And then I instantly realized a deeper message to the classic, Dr. Seuss tale, _Horton Hears A Who!_ Beneath its tale of the hero, Horton, fighting for the survival of the miniature world of Who-Ville, the Whos themselves are also in control of their destiny by first showing the strength when uniting for a cause. Certainly, Dr. Seuss is regarded for often injecting his social views into his stories. Decades later, there are new levels of appreciation I have for these books.
But are there any other classics you recommend that relate to today's global concerns in surprising ways?
Please share a book title, its story, and how you find it relates to current issues.
