Whoa! That?s a huge amount to pay for a war on a daily basis and I guess its not over yet, the occupation of the region still continues and cost will surely keep on accumulating. Well, what can one do with the amount, a lot of things can be done! $720 million is more than enough to open up many humanitarian centers that will prove beneficial to the mankind.

Number of hospitals can be made in places that are in dire need of them; a number of schools can be opened up in poverty struck regions across the globe. Possibilities are many, the amount can result in employment, education, shelter and food for thousands of people, but alas, do the American citizens really have a say in how their hard earned money is being spend by the government?

In fact, most of the nations across the globe always end up doing stuffs that hardly enjoy any kind of public support or acceptance. Sad but true!

$720 million is surely a hell lot of money to spend buddy!  The YouTube video is mind blowing; it really puts things in perspective. Just imagine if this humungous amount of money is utilized in developmental activities in places that are facing extreme poverty, the world will definitely be on its way to a better existence. I guess, not only the US citizens but those from across the world have a right to question the US government of its action since they have affected the world in totality.

The situation does look grim since the occupation of Iraq in some form or the other is going to continue, more than the people, its few big corporations that seem to have a better hold on the US government and its decision making. Definitely the people in the US to speak out demanding a better use of their money which they pay as taxes!

The $720 million can be used to open up schools or providing shelter to affected people in places that have faced destruction due to civil war or any other reasons. Afghanistan, Nepal and various other African nations that are facing poverty can be the beneficiary nations. Or else, the money can also be used for schemes that are initiated for the protection of the earth?s environment.

Another great use of this money could be to fund researches for finding new sources of energy or also to fund engineering initiatives to come up with eco friendly machinery that also consumes less energy. The whole world is populated with places that are in need of humanitarian help, one just needs to look around, and such places could also become the beneficiary of this money in terms of developmental and humanitarian efforts. Is the US government listening?

It is a staggering sum of money. However, we should keep our goals firmly in front of us to lead us through the darkness into the light. So we need to stop the war and divert this spending to green issues. Isnt this what this site is mainly about? Isnt the fate of humanity at stake because of the adverse effects of global warming? Shouldnt we be spending a huge sum in saving our world from the catastrophic climate changes that occur as a consequence? Therefore, we need to spend more money on research to find new and improved techniques for manufacturing products without harming people, animals and the natural environment.

I am truly stunned by the amount of 720 million bucks per day incurred during the war. How can America spend so much in a war so far from its home? Can a country so far away as Iraq, pose such great a threat to the US for it to wage a war against it? War is never good for a country and its people. So many soldiers and civilians have died in the war. The financial costs have been simply mind blowing.

If I had to decide on how I would spend the money instead of using it on the war, I would definitely choose the development of infrastructure. I feel that bridges, roads, dams, rail roads, docks, military bases and airports are essential for any country.

This only shows that some governments can go to any extent for power and money; misusing hard earned money of its people to fill pockets of its own and a few corporations. It is no secret that the real beneficiaries of the extended stay of US Army are the oil companies, the companies bagging the defense deals and the big corporations involved in the reconstruction of Iraq. But the question remains whether the expenditure is worth the effort, both in terms of personnel and money for the above stated gains. Would it not be much better if the same amount be used for humanitarian activities? A better use of the money can be providing aid to the poverty struck nations. It could also be used for the development of such places.

Child labor is a major social issue that could be tackled better with this money. Hey, while on the issue of child labor, I must mention that I just read an article and found it quite informative; http://community.worldofgood.com/blogs/Crafts_Center_articles/2008/01/17/efforts-to-end-forced-and-indentured-child-labor-in-the-crafts-sector#cf

It shows that much is still needed to be done for the world to get rid of its ills, $720 million can surely prove helpful.
