"I arise in the morning torn between a desire to improve the world and a desire to enjoy the world. This makes it hard to plan the day." -E. B. White

My mother sent me a bookmark with this quote on it a few years back.  Many of you will recall that E. B. White wrote "Charlotte's Web".

For me, this quote neatly sums up the struggle that we all face.  There is so much beauty in the world, so much promise.  Yet, there is also so much that we can all change and improve.  It really does make it hard to plan the day!

I have really enjoyed reading the quotes that people have attached to their profiles.  What are some of your favorite quotes and why are they meaningful to you?

"I'm for truth, no matter who tells it. I'm for justice, no matter who it is for or against. I'm a human being, first and foremost, and as such I'm for whoever and whatever benefits humanity as a whole."

Mr. Malcolm X

It is hard, I think, to top the famous quote attributed to M.K. Ghandi "We must be the change we wish to see in the world."; In a few simple words, it issues such a powerful call to action, identifying individual responsibility and action as the catalyst for social change. I am sure this is one of the most popular quotes within this community!

This one always inspires me!

"I went into the woods because I wished to live deliberately,

to front only the essential facts of life,

and see if I could not learn what it had to teach,

and not, when I came to die,

discover that I had not lived."

Henry David Thoreau

"Centuries from now it will not matter about the house we lived in or how much  money we made in a lifetime...

but the world may be better because we helped some of God's little animals on this earth during out time here"
