Founder's story
Founder and owner, Donya Fahmy, started dabbling in aromatherapy as a hobby about 15 years ago.
"At that time I was struggling with some nagging health issues --mainly recurring bouts of eczema and fatigue-- that were not responding to conventional medicine. Out of sheer frustration, I decided to take matters into my own hands and based on what I had learned about essential oils from my research and just playing with them, I started making my own blends to try to address these problems. I was really amazed by the results. My personal experience showed me how remarkably effective quality essential oils are at addressing a range of common ailments. Naturally, I was drawn to the idea of making aromatherapy products for everyday use that would really help people feel better and support them on their journey to a healthier, toxic-free low-stress lifestyle."

Our philosophy
Dropwise Essentials was born out of a simple vision: a company that makes safe, high quality plant-based personal care products that are good for both people and the planet. I wanted to create products that would make people feel so great when they used them that they couldn't help but notice how much better off they were using products that were made from nature rather than made primarily with chemicals in a lab.
What better way to honor Mother Earth than by respectfully using the amazing gifts she gives us in the form of plants --all types of plants from aromatic to medicinal-- to make products, instead of using ingredients that require heavy industrial processing and whose impact on our health is virtually unknown. Most commercial personal care companies do the latter, gambling today's profits on the future health of consumers and the environment, and threatening the viability of both in the process.
The blistering pace of technological and industrial advances has made modern life more hectic, stressful, and toxic to our physical and emotional well being than ever before. It has forced many of us to move further and further away from nature as a source of harmony and self-renewal.
We believe in the importance of re-establishing this lost connection to the rich and restorative energies of the plant world, of opening our spirits to the power of botanicals, of embracing their healing and protective qualities, and most important of all, enriching our lives by cultivating a profound appreciation for the benefits of living in balance and harmony with our environment and all living things.
We are committed to maintaining ecologically sound manufacturing processes and using raw materials from producers who themselves are committed to sustainable farming practices. Our products are cruelty-free meaning we never test them on animals and to the best of our knowledge, none of the ingredients we use have been or are tested on animals either. We do not use any animal-derived ingredients in our products, except for a little beeswax in our lotions, creams, and balms.

Dropwise Essentials is a San Francisco-based manufacturer of pure aromatherapy and organic plant-based personal care products that give people a safe and effective way to relieve stress, increase vitality, improve confidence, or simply manage their emotional state any time or place without popping a pill.
Our products are free of synthetic chemicals and petroleum ingredients, formulated with certified organic ingredients and 100% pure essential oils and made with integrity.
Where the producers live and work
Dropwise products are made with high quality certified organic oils and pure essential oils sourced from around the world, and packaged in re-usable or recyclable materials. Finished products are hand made locally in San Francisco, California.

How we select what we sell
What makes us unique
Anyone can mix two or three essential oils together, add them to a product and call it aromatherapy. A lot of companies seem to do this --adding essential oils to their formulations as an after-thought just to keep up with the latest trends. For us, aromatherapy is not a fad.
Essential oils form the core of a great product and we invest a lot of time, careful thought, and energy creating our essential oil blends. We put an equal amount of thought and care into the other ingredients we use too. We want you to experience the joy of true aromatherapy every time you use Dropwise products so we're sure you'll feel and smell the difference for yourself!
