Our mission statement Our mission statement is to provide education and training to poor children in the Himalayan Region and provide them with the skills to support themselves and help support their families during their lifetime.
The history of our organization The Himalayan Youth Foundation was founded in 2002 by two people devoted to the people of the Himalayan region. Dedicated to educating poor children, the foundation has built the Kailash hostel near Kathmandu housing and providing 100 boys and girls with a free traditional education up through the Nepali standard 10th grade. In Bhutan, HYF assures the financing of the net operating costs of the Choki Traditional Art School (CTAS) and has financed the building of 6 new buildings for the school.
Our organization's standards for producers, products, or sellers
How we developed our standards HYF's standards are those of its founders and Board members. Both founders were educated in excellent colleges in the USA and Europe and worked for companies highly respected for their quality and success. Their early commercial training and their participation in charitable work most of their lives has meant that they bring high standards and expertise to the work of HYF.
Summary of our process for screening new producers, products, or sellers As we monitor only one producer and a well defined selection of products, defined by the artistic tradition of the country,we are not intending, at present, to screen new producers. We will expand the product line as the market dictates, continuing to produce at the same expert facility as at present. Initially, we are monitoring a school that has sold only domestically up to now but plans to start selling internationally soon. Selection of sellers will depend on their marketing success selling our specialized products.
How we regularly monitor compliance of our standards
Our monitoring process including who performs the monitoring HYF monitors the production in Bhutan annually at the school where the products are made and is in regular contact with the school's Head Mistress and the faculty relating to any quality problems encountered.
The fee structure for our monitoring system As we are charitable foundation we do not charge for our monitoring. However, several of our volunteer staff are experienced in manufacturing and quality control and are fully qualified to monitor production.
Monitored regions USA, Europe
