How to avoid funky formatting (like the unnecessary "?" marks)

You've probably noticed many blogs and discussion posts with sentences that read:
Just because it?s labeled ?natural? doesn?t mean it?s organic.

The "?" marks often occur when people are copying and pasting characters such as apostrophes, quotation marks, or dashes from a word processor like Microsoft Word that are automatically formatted; they are pasted as characters that the community platform doesn't recognize. Ways to avoid this include:

  • Always read your messages before posting/publishing. When writing blogs or discussions, you can click on the "Preview" tab to see exactly what your post will look like to the rest of the community

  • If you must copy and paste, copy text from a plain text word processor such as Notepad

  • If you notice characters converted to "?" after publishing, edit blog posts and discussion posts in plain text and re-publish
